Welcome
Welcome
The Ullapool Guitar Festival 8th,9th and 10th October 2010.
Please put those dates in your diary!! Also, hit the refresh button on your computer now, so that you see the most up to date version of this site.
The Standard of musicianship in the 2009 Festival was stunning to say the least. I’d just like to say a huge thanks to all the musicians and to everyone who helped run the Festival along with those paying customers who came to Ullapool and supported the event.
In 2010 we welcome back Allan Neave with some of his students from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and drama based in Glasgow. The 2009 performances from Sean Shibe and Sofia Pyrounaki were outstanding and we hope to continue with this annual showcase as long as the Festival keeps running.
Clive Carroll and John Smith tell me that they are going to play their take on the Classic album Bert and John( jansch and Renbourn). Check the original album which can be downloaded off itunes.
So the line up for this year is Jennifer Batten, Richard Smith with Julie Adams,Jerry Donahue with Doug Morter, Erik Mongrain, John Etheridge, Gordon Giltrap, Ken Nicol, Clive Carroll, John Goldie, Hugh Burns,Wingin it, Nigel Clark, Jimmy Wahlsteen, Gary Potter, Allan Neave with some of his RSAMD students and our very own John Smith. The late night Festival club will be run by Paul Buckley and we have Jon Strong, Pete Price, Tristan Seume, Swing Guitars, Stefan Galt and Lee Westwood lined up to appear; plus of course there are always players dropping in for the odd bit of jamming.
Weekend tickets for 2010 are now on sale at the normal price of £130 each. We have now made the jump to lightspeed and you can now buy tickets using Paypal, the link can be found on the tickets page.
Individual concert tickets will not go on sale until much closer to the festival and will sell at £30 each.
When you consider that you will have entry to 5 concerts, featuring so many world class musicians, plus the 3 late night Festival clubs, the weekend ticket is a complete bargain and great value for money. The main venue only seats 250 people and with the back projection system we use; you can see everything that is going on.
Guitar makers will also be there in abundance, with trade stands from Avalon, Fylde, Moon, Lakewood,Patrick Eggle,
Pete Beer, Toon,Powell and Osbourne guitars. The makers usually have guitars on sale at heavily discounted prices so if you are thinking of purchasing a new guitar then the Festival presents a wonderful opportunity to buy a great guitar for very reasonable money.
